After her inaugural tour ended with tales of her less than congenial demeanour and fans tearing up the Hammersmith Apollo due to an early mid-show disappearance, no one was sure which version of the queen of hip hop soul would be returning to promote her ’94 sophomore release. The Mary I encountered that afternoon was disarmingly mesmeric. An open, extremely accommodating, more self-assured person. This picture gained me my first and only publishing credit in The Face magazine.
