To say I was gassed on being told I'd be meeting Nasir Jones, who was promoting his eagerly awaited '94 Illmatic debut, would be an immense understatement. My excitement was only matched by my surprise at the person I met that day. A shy, quiet, extraordinarily thoughtful young 20-year-old. Nothing like the lyrically brash, projects-hardened Queensbridge native I expected to be greeted by. I felt this picture best portrayed the person I met that day.
